No issue brings out the trolls and astroturf media true believers like this one and the previous essay was right to bring this up. Despite all the research showing a positive association between vaccines, autism, and other adverse events, we're getting the spin double time because there's a whistleblower hearing coming up this spring involving a senior CDC scientist who maintains that CDC higher ups demanded that researchers lie and hide data showing several associations between vaccines and autism, most notably the 340% increased risk of autism to African American boys from the MMR. http://www.ringoffireradio.com/.../cdc-scientist-still.../
Thompson made his disclosures in the middle of Ferguson protests and industry and public health are anticipating a major backlash. He also made the disclosure only months after a Homeland Security adviser admitted fake vaccine philanthropy campaigns had been used in multiple military operations, not just the mission to kill Bin Laden. A lot more than public health is riding on this.
Once the hearings bring forth the thousands of pages of evidence that Thompson has already filed with members of Congress, it will be impossible for the astroturf media to spin the disclosure as unimportant or exaggerated. They'll only be able to attack the whistleblower. Reference Snowden to see how well that goes over with the public once the evidence is in hand.
What makes it worse is that the CDC has campaigned to tie vaccine compliance to programs like WIC and Medicaid in an open attempt to increase African American and other minority groups' vaccination rates even *after* officials there knew that some ethnic groups are more prone to adverse events. Prior to 2003, the CDC had been wondering aloud about the vanishingly low rates of autism among Hispanic kids as well as relatively low rates among AA at the same time it bemoaned these groups' lack of vaccine compliance. The CDC blamed jaundice since Tuskegee, opined it could not easily be overcome and simply took coercive measures.
Now rates of autism are the highest among AA, Hispanic and certain immigrant groups. Furthermore, the CDC whistleblower openly apologized to Andrew Wakefield for the withheld data, saying it would have exonerated the Lancet study. In other words, the optics on this are very, very bad for industry and regulators and explain why there's such a heavy push now to remove all vaccine exemptions on a state by state basis and why there's federal legislation in the works in case the state campaigns fail. It's pure bureaucratic panic. Basically the vaccine program just committed suicide. Any fallout in terms of dropping compliance rates will be industry's and corrupt regulators' fault for running away from the evidence rather than fixing the problem.
Autism is really about damaged cellular pathways and there's more than one way to skin a cat and generate the approximate damage it takes to cause the condition-- so there's also more than one way to remedy it. But to date, vaccines are by far the most ubiquitous source of exposure to certain heavy metals (which exist in vaccines specifically to depress the immune system) combined with live viruses at the most critical stages of development which are also delivered in a way that bypass all the body's usual defenses. Less common causes like the drug Depakote, certain pesticides (both of which share about a half a dozen overlaps with the effects of mercury on brain cells and metabolism) or mercury pollution from coal-fired plants and highway deposition really only verify that shots are a major cause of the epidemic. And it is an epidemic. There weren't enough beds in public or private institutions or slots in SSI/SSRI per capita 50 years ago to cover even a fraction of today's autism rate. 85% of those affected are under the age of 24 and 84% of which is severe and could not have simply "passed for normal" in days of yore. Not even the head of the NIMH pretends that rates aren't rising fast.
